When Ela got sick!

This past week was horrible: Ela caught this bad bad desease with runny nose and high fever. She was really bad and İ was exausted.

Obviously her appetite was very low, and today that she started to feel better... Mommy decided to treat her with a cheerfull breakfast!

A special breakfast platter with:
-The omelet monster and Labne-cheese teeth, olive eyes and bread crust hair
-A special car-shaped toast of 'pekmez-tahin" (traditional Turkish spread mixing grape molasse and sesame paste) with walnut wheels and grapes
-A freshly squeezed orange juice (in one of my favorite old-style Algerian mint tea glass)
-A warm chocolate milk
-and a pink towel flower

and she devored it all!!!!

Nostalgia...at Migros!

Well, just to share some 'nostalgia" feeling  (not that I remember any of the old products)...

For their 50th anniversary, a famous supermarket chain in Turkey had the "good idea" to offer some products in 50-year old packaging.

Of course, Coke jumped into to the occasion and released 4 bottles of the years of 1899. 1900, 1915, 1957.

As for Koska, it certainly made my husband smile looking at their Tahin and Pekmez cans  and saying " ahhh I remember those..."

Savory Bits!

Just to share some pictures about these two savory bits:

A light salad made with Turkish Beyaz Peynir (feta cheese), tomatoes, Arugula or Roka in Turkish, spring onions, drizzled with an earthy olive oil and  Xérès Vinegar from Spain.

My Humus recipe, simply consists in 300-400g soaked overnight and boiled chickpeas (with the outer skin removed for the humus to be smooth), blended with the juice of half a lemon, olive oil, 3 tablespoons of tahin, cumin, salt, sumac and paprika.
